RCUK International Strategy

Research Councils UK published its international strategy in June 2007. This sets out the Research Councils collective international aims and objectives, which are to:

  • Encourage collaboration between UK researchers and the best researchers from around the world;
  • Promote the movement of researchers to and from the UK;
  • Give UK researchers access to data, facilities and resources;
  • Influence the international research agenda;
  • Promote the UK as a world centre for research and innovation.

The RCUK international strategy is available here PDF, 2547KB

An important means of delivering this strategy is via RCUK's international Offices.

The Research Councils' UK Research Office (UKRO), established in 1984, is the UK’s leading information and advice service on EU funding for research and higher education.

The RCUK Office in China opened in October 2007. The Office will work with UK and Chinese research funding organisations and universities to facilitate collaboration between UK and Chinese researchers.

These RCUK Offices work closely with the FCO Science & Innovation Network, others such as UKTI and the British Council to align activities and present a joined up picture of UK research resources and expertise.
