The UK Research Councils provide researchers with flexible means to pursue international collaboration with the best researchers across the globe, wherever they are located and also to encourage the mobility of researchers to and from the UK. Overseas academics also play a key role in peer review and participate in strategy development and the evaluation of research, helping to ensure each Councils' priorities are informed by international developments and that the international standing of the UK research base is tensioned against the best in the world.
